A Peptic Ulcer is a sore in your stomach or the lining of the first part of your small intestines called the duodenum. When the ulcer is in the stomach it is classified as a Gastric Ulcer and when the ulcer is in the small intestines it is classified as a Duodenal Ulcer. In some rare cases, a peptic ulcer may form in the esophagus (tube that connects your mouth to your stomach) just above the stomach. Peptic Ulcers occur when the lining of your stomach comes in contact with too much stomach acid.

What are the causes of Peptic Ulcers?
Peptic Uclers are mainly caused by Helicobacter Pylori (A germ that causes infections) and medication such as aspirin and Ibuprofen.
Helicobacter Pylori can spread by dirty food or water and also kissing. The Stomach can only take so much Stomach Acid, if the stomach produces too much stomach acid, this can also cause a Peptic Ulcer. To provent Peptic Ulcers you can wash your hands before each meal, after you use the bathroom and other small hygenic things like this. It is also more likely to get a Peptic Ulcer if you are over the age of 60, a female and you have been taking aspirin and Ibuprofen for a long time.
This is a Stomach or Gastric Ulcer
Some of the symptoms of Peptic Ulcer are loss of appetite, vomiting and burping. You may also tell if you have a Peptic Ulcer if your stool is black or bloody or if your vomit is bloody for looks kinda like coffee.
Treatments;
Most treatments involve medication to reduce the amount of stomach acid produced and to protect the ulcer. If it was caused by medication such as aspirin then you stop taking those medications or take a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) with the medication as a blocker. Milk or Antacids don't heal the ulcer they only relieve you of the pain for a short time.
